Zee James makes her mark in the featured role as the adult Tonya character on the UPN hit comedy Everybody Hates Chris. Zee's performance and easy going demeanor endeared her to audiences, turning what was suppose to be a one episode guest-starring role into a recurring role.A native of Tupelo, Mississippi, Zee graduated from high school and attended the University of Mississippi. At the age of 19, she decided that she wanted to pursue modeling and acting.Arriving in California with five hundred dollars given to her by her father, Zee pursued her dreams. Always focused, Zee attended Long Beach State University on a track and field scholarship while devoting time to her studies and simultaneously pursuing her acting career. After receiving a bachelor degree in fashion merchandising, Zee began to focus all of her attention on becoming an actress.Not one to shy away from hard work, Zee paid her dues doing background and extra work, while sharpening her acting skills and gaining experience.In 2002, Zee landed her first co-staring role on the CBS drama, The District. With her foot firmly planted in Hollywood door, Zee took on new challenges with the film 75 Horror, where she added another notch to her belt by performing as a stunt-woman. Other credits include supporting roles in the feature films Dead Reckoning and American Dream Ind.With her breakout role on UPN's hit comedy, Everybody Hates Chris, she is excited about the possibilities.
