Daniel Day Lewis said of acting, "The thing about performance, even if it's only an illusion, is that it is a celebration of the fact that we do contain within ourselves, infinite possibilities." From an early age, Cameron discovered the joy of performing, and began to seek out these possibilities within himself. His decision to major in theatre is the outcome of a long-term focus on developing himself as a performer. He started learning piano at the age of seven, and have not stopped playing since. Music introduced him to the challenge of performing - of expressing himself to an audience and holding their attention. Cameron firmly believes that being an accomplished performer requires studying the craft both as an art and a science. Even though he had a talent for music, it took countless hours of dedicated practice before he could get up on stage and play. Similarly, he has worked hard to develop the basic ingredients required to be a professional actor. He realize that there is more to telling a story than acting alone. From lighting to stage management and costumes to casting, he wants to learn about the finer details that make a theatre or movie production possible. He turns to two words inscribed on the Oracle of Apollo at Delphi, Greece - "Gnothi Seauton," or "Know Thyself." This is certainly relevant in the context of his chosen profession. He wants to gain the freedom to successfully lead a creative life, not through accident or luck, but through preparation, dedication and skill.
