Born in 1955 in Hamedan Iran, Parviz Parastui began acting on stage in 1969, in feature movies in 1983 and television in 1988. He has played leading role in many different movies from comedy to drama. "Leily Is With Me"(1995) a popular satire and "The Glass Agency" (1997), a thriller brought him two national awards from Fajr Film Festival. The film that made him known worldwide is the comedy "Marmulak (The Lizard)" (2004) where he plays the role of a thief turned mullah to escape from jail. In Majid Majidi's last film "The Willow Tree" (2005), he plays a middle aged blind man struggling with his newly recovered sight. He won the award as Best Actor for this role in Fajr Festival 2005.
