Marie Roux was born to French parents, Maurice Roux and Liliane Robert, in Gabon, Africa. She was raised in Africa and France and feels "privileged to have learned so much from the beauty of differences in cultures". At the age of sixteen she joined the Regional Conservatory in the south of France and then the National Conservatory where she performed in her first play "Hortense a Dit, Je m'en Fou", a Feydeau directed by Jean-Louis Chales. After a few years Marie moved to Paris to work under the direction of Dominique Leverd, a master in the world of Theatre. There she got acquainted with the teachings of La Comedie Française and the beauty of classics from Moliere, Racine, and Hugo as well as the Greek Tragedie. She made her debut on the Parisian stages at Le Theatre de la Plaine, a prestigious theatre where she performed parts of Antigone, Amadeus, La Double Inconstance and L'ecole des Femmes.
