The virile, large-sized character actor began off-Broadway in Shakespearean roles, with Henry V, Measure for Measure and Twelfth Night among his credits in the late 70s.
Has narrated dozens of audiobooks over the years, including the best-selling "My Losing Season" by Pat Conroy and provided a dog character for Den Cootz's book "Woofer". Popular novelists William Gibson and Joyce Carol Oates are among his readings. He and his wife Maryann Plunkett did some storytelling together on Lawrence Saunders' "False Dawn".
His family is very arts-oriented. His father was a violinist and his mother a choral director. His younger brother became an actor and his two sisters are singers. His father later became Executive Director for the Westchester Council of the Arts and was deeply committed to Unicef and the Peace Corps.
Played the recurring role of John Goodman's biker buddy "Ziggy" on the sitcom classic "Roseanne" (1988).
