Born in 1975 in Randfontein - a town just northwest of Johannesburg, South Africa - Neil Sandilands has been acting since at least the age of 14. He has appeared in a number of South African stage, film, and television productions including a continuing role on a popular soap-opera. In 1996 he received a B.A. degree from Rand Afrikaans University, majoring in Political Science and Philosophy. His first international exposure came in the movie, "Proteus," in which he played an 18th-century Dutch sailor imprisoned for sodomy on notorious Robben Island.
