Argentine musician, and leader of the groups "Arco Iris" and "Soluna", Gustavo Santaolalla was one of the more important referring of the national music toward end of the 1960s and principles of the 1970s. During the 70s, he was situated in the United States, where formed the band Wet Picnic, with Anibal Kerpel, Aaurie Buhne and Robert Brill, with the one that developed an intense activity in the city of Los Angeles. In 1982 he returned to Argentina to record a disk soloist - with a new sound - very influenced by the american pop tendency of the epoch, called "Santaolalla", of the one that participated the Argentine musicians Alfredo Toth (group GIT), in bass, and Alejandro Lerner, in piano. In the area of the production, his important work is emphasized in "Of Ushuaia to The Quiaca", project of Lion Gieco, another mythical argentine musician, in its same national folk line. Of return in Los Angeles, produced disks for "café Tacuba" and "Maldita vecindad", among others, returning once more to Argentina in the middle of the '90 with a second disk soloist "GAS" (the initials of his name). His works in groups production from EE. UU, has become Santaolalla a prominent figure in that area, what supplied him, besides, to participate of big musical projects for cinema movies with successful results (Amores perros, 21 grams, Diarios de motocicleta), crowned with the Oscar award in march of 2006, by the music of the controversial film "Brokeback mountain".
