Farshid Seilatani was born the 30th of November 1972 in Tehran, Iran and moved to Sweden in 1986. At age of 18, Farshid took an interest in films. In March 1992 he applied to a drama school (senior high school) and a few months later he was a drama student. During high school Farshid also spent a lot of time practising martial arts (shotokan karate and Aikido).A year and a half after his high school graduation in 1994, Farshid started to study film in Stockholm. He graduated from Stockholm film school in 1997. So far he has made a few short films: Sånt är livet (1993) which he wrote. Mardrömmen (1994), Michelle (1994), Film & Publik (1995-98), and Svart fredag (1997) are all films written and directed by Farshid Seilatani. His latest project is Onyx (2003), a short film written and produced by himself.
