Sarah Downie was born in Texas on May 24th, 1978. She doesn't say much about her childhood but one gets the feeling there is a lot lurking just under the skin of what she won't say. What we do know is that her real mom and dad divorced when she was two and, while she has a good relationship with her mother, Susan, she and her father did not speak again until she was 20 years old. Their relationship now seems to be tense.Always dramatic, Sarah started acting, as many do, in school. Her first role was as the Yellow Rose of Texas in a second grade production. High school reintroduced her to the theater and she began a career in both high school and professional productions. She won several "Best Actress" awards in school and considered going on to study acting in college.Sarah graduated from Canyon Del Oro High School in 1996 after attending for only six months, but says that her experiences in that six months were vital to her acting future.Young adulthood threw her a few curve balls, though, as, instead of going off to college, she got married in October of 1996. They were married almost a year when her first husband died. Just after his death, Sarah found out she was pregnant with her first child. Her son was born in April of 1998.Sarah moved herself and her child from Tucson, Arizona, back to her hometown of Dickens, Texas, where she worked at a beer store and attended community college classes nearby. She became a full-time student at West Texas College, studying Mass Communications and working on the Western Texan (the college newspaper) as a staff writer.Working weekends in a bar, she met her current husband, who, when he moved to California for work, talked her into bringing her child and moving with him. The couple's next three children came quickly after that.Sarah's focus returned to her work with a gusto as she turned her driven attention toward the film industry. Having found artistic satisfaction on the stage, she looks for the same through both the big and small screens. After much success on stage, Sarah is now poised to begin a successful career in film.
