Mark Siney was born in Reading, Berkshire UK on May 3rd 1969 and began singing as a choirboy at the age of seven and then moving onto The Reading Blue Coat School, Sonning, where he played Kitt Webster in The Ballad of Saloman Pavey at the age of 11. On leaving school with nominal qualifications he then juggled working in Customer Services, Yellow Pages with treading the boards with local amateur dramatic groups and took his first major leading role as Hans Christian Andersen in the musical Hans Andersen at the age of 20 at the Hexagon Theatre, Reading. All this preparing him for a gruelling season as a Pontins Blue Coat on the Island of Jersey where he was spotted by cabaret legend Scott Paige and The Talk of London impresario Dick Ray for whom he toured in his Christmas and Excitement shows. Mark then became a subsequent star cabaret for Haven Warner and Pontins working the holiday centre circuit for two years in Devon and Cornwall for Trevor George Entertainments and winning a prestigious South West Entertainer of the Year award. The Stage and Television Today wrote on his performance "Britain could well do with another Matt Monro and maybe Mark Siney is that man".The following year he was supporting TV comedian Jimmy Cricket at the Festival Theatre Paignton in Jimmy goes to Hollywood. In recent years mark has been juggling his cabaret and operetta performances with his West End Musical Theatre work having understudied and played to great acclaim the role of Monsieur Andre in The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre, London and Monsieur Reyer in the German production at The Neue Flora Hamburg where he again understudied Andre and performed both in German. He was also delighted to understudy the role of Mr Sowerberry on the National tour of Oliver! again for Cameron Mackintosh and directed by Sam Mendes starring one of his childhood favourites Russ Abbot. Mark's vocal and acting versatility has meant that he has also performed with The Carl Rosa Opera Company and has played such operetta roles as Dr. Falke and Frosh in Die Fledermaus. Concert performances include the roles of Ko-Ko in The Mikado at The Neue Flora, Hamburg, Sondhein Tonight at The Barbican, London and The Doctor in Du Barry was A Lady at Her Majesty's Theatre, London which was also broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and most recently his own tribute to the late Matt Monro, Shades of Matt. Recordings include the cast recording of Sondheim Tonight and the role of Mr. Merryweather in the BBC/Big Finish Dr. Who audio adventure Dr. Who and the Pirates starring Colin Baker and Bill Oddie. His most recent roles to date being Understudy Sir Joseph Porter KCB and Resident Director and Dance Captain on Timothy West's production of HMS Pinafore for The Carl Rosa Company and as Kromov in their touring production of The Merry Widow.
