Born Andreas Archontakis in Bonningheim, Germany November 30, 1970. The son of projector man Gus Archontakis and housewife Anthoula Sky. Drew Sky is also heir to the late Andy Archontakis Movie Theater C.E.O. from Crete, Greece. When Drew was 5, the family moved to Clearwater, Florida where his father became a house painter. He became fascinated by his father's treasure chest of old film posters and foreign film memorabilia from the family heir. It was later after watching "Killing of a Chinese Bookie" at the age of 8, and Scarface at the age of 11, that he realized that he was going to make his own violent films. While attending Countryside High School, in Clearwater, Florida, Drew also known as Andy Archontakis back then, performed in several plays, and lip-syncs. While in high school he purchased a video camera to make funny videos using friends and relatives as actors. In 1990 he went to the University of Illinois to study Broadcast Journalism. While in school, he delivered for Domino's Pizza to make ends meet. After graduating with a BA in Broadcast Journalism, Drew did marketing work for an Aveda Hair Salon company and also modeled clothes for several independent clothing lines in the fashion district of Chicago. In 1996 he changed his name to Drew Sky and drove cross-country to Los Angeles in pursuit of a career in filmmaking. After only two weeks in LA, he maxed out his mastercard and paid four months rent for room and board to William Morris Agent, Dick Heckenkamp in his Queens Road, Hollywood Hills home. While living there he did several odd acting jobs as well as Mighty Morphine Power Rangers. In 1998 Drew moved to Los Feliz to study at the American Film Institute. He sold his '89 BMW for A 16mm Reflex and his pick up truck for film stock to shoot his first short film "Lotto Lizards".In 1999 Drew won first place for his screenplay "Cooler Junkies" at a Chicago Film Festival. In 2000 he won the Orlando Orange Film Festival for "Lotto Lizards". Also in 2000 Lotto Lizards was selected for a DVD Film Festival in Park City, Utah where Drew Sky met Kevin Smith. Smith and Drew were both being interviewed by 'Entertainment Tonight'. After the interview Smith encouraged him to send `Lotto Lizards to his production company, View Askew in New Jersey. 'Lotto Lizards' is currently in over 3000 video stores around the world. In late 2000 Drew worked as a production coordinator for two nationwide shows "Extra" and "Celebrity Justice". Later in 2001 with some gained respect from two winning projects, he put a film crew together to shoot his first feature length film "Planet of the Pitts". The filming was done on the weekends with the pay Drew made as a production coordinator from the television shows. In June of 2003 Desi Singh, an actor from Planet of the Pitts, introduced him to producer "Once Upon A Time In Mexico" and star of "El Mariachi", Carlos Gallardo, at a Mexican restaurant. Drew showed him a trailer and a scene from his film "Planet Of The Pitts" on a portable DVD. Carlos was so impressed with the footage that he asked if he could see the film in its entirety. Drew invited Carlos for a private screening the very next day at his artist loft in Korea town. When Carlos arrived he informed Drew that he could only stay for twenty minutes of the film because he was an invited guest at the X-Men 2 (2003) Premier. Carlos ended up staying for the entire two hours screening of "Planet of the Pitts". One month later he was flown to Acuna, Mexico to shoot the project "El Mariachi 10 Years Later". While in Mexico for two weeks, he also shot a trailer for a new film called "Che Superstar" and a Hummer commercial.
