Before she hit it big on "American Idol: The Search for a Superstar" (2002), she worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. In 2004, she released her first album/demo, which was titled "My Struggle." She had auditioned for a previous season of American Idol before becoming a finalist in the fourth season. Grew up in Florida. Has two older brothers, she is the youngest child in her family. She went by her middle name on American Idol for the same reason that Clay Aiken shortened his name, audition staff, for some reason or another, thought it would increase her chances of winning. She worked as a mailwoman.
