Jonathan Sothcott is a London-based producer film and programme licensing consultant.He entered the industry as an entertainment journalist in 1997, editing the film section of arts review magazine The Grapevine. His work for cult film magazine The Darkside lead to the publication of his first book, The Cult Films of Christopher Lee, in 2000. Dreamwatch magazine described the book as "compulsive" while InPrint labelled Jonathan "Britain's leading cult writer."Following this success, Jonathan entered the fledgling DVD industry and was soon in demand to provide audio commentaries for DVD releases of classic films such as The Man Who Haunted Himself, Dr Terror's House of Horrors, Dr Who & The Daleks and Summer Holiday. With work for MGM, Paramount and Anchor Bay under his belt, he began producing the commentaries, forming his own company - Forbidden Territory Films - and branching out into award-winning documentaries, such as The Last of the Gentleman Producers, which was screened at the Bradford Film Festival.At the same time, he began channelling his extensive knowledge of film sales and licensing into the company, launching Forbidden Territory Entertainment, a sales consultancy with its own catalogue of cult movies. He has also worked extensively in television acquisitions and was Head of Programming for The Horror Channel, before moving to David Wickes Productions.
