Born in England in the late 70s, Richard wanted to be an actor from a very early age. He was named after the character Dick Whittington which was showing at a local theatre around the time that he was born ("glad they weren't doing Widow Twanky that year!...") Richard has extensive theatre credits but prefers working on screen. In 2004, he took on the role of Private Clive Tonry in BBC 2's Dunkirk, which received critical acclaim and had the highest ratings for BBC 2 ever. He lives on his own and divides his time between his home town and London.
