M.C. Brennan / Biography

M. C. Brennan is a performer, writer and filmmaker who first garnered attention as a musician in the Phoenix/Tempe, Arizona music scene of the mid-to-late-80s. Brennan first gained attention as "Mike Sortino" before beginning a much-publicized gender transition in her late teens and early 20s. Early film work included music videos for local bands and bit parts in local commercials, TV shows and locally-shot features. In the 90s, Brennan continued music and filmmaking in San Francisco and Seattle, appearing in local commercials and television and directing short films. In 2002, she won the Arizona Commission on the Arts screenwriting fellowship, and in 2003 her screenplay "The People's Choice" took home the Best Screenplay award from the Phoenix Film Festival.
