He was nominated for a 1997 Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Theatre Choreographer of 1996 for Tommy performed at the Shaftesbury Theatre. Won Broadway's 1993 Tony Award as Best Choreographer for "The Who's Tommy." His first Tony nomination was in 1978 as Best Actor (Featured Role - Musical) for "Working," but his other four nominations have also been as Best Choreographer: in 1984 for "Baby," in 1995 for "How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying," in 1997 for "Dream" and in 2004 for "Wicked."
