Paul was born into a closely-knit family, with six other siblings. He grew up in the small town of Wyoming, Minnesota, and started acting at his local church by performing in the annual Christmas nativity. Throughout junior-high and high-school, Paul stayed involved in drama at church with his brothers.Being that Paul was home-schooled from kindergarten to graduation he had allot of time to explore a variety of hobbies. Which included delving into oil painting, piano, photography, acting, and landscaping. In 1999, he placed in the top 25 in the nation for his piano playing in the NWC fine arts festival, and from 1995 through 1999 Paul took home blue ribbons from the Minnesota State Fair for his paintings. Currently he displays his paintings at the Wilcock Gallery in Minnesota.In retrospect, Paul says that it was his mom's love of the arts that spilled over to him, and remains as his biggest influence in his work. He remembers telling her that he wanted to be an actor when he was sixteen, and thankfully she didn't try to dissuade him.The most heart wrenching moment in his life came when he approached his dad at the doors of the local emergency room following news of a car accident on the evening of January 5th 2000. Gripping him in a bear hug, with tears streaming down his face, Paul's dad delivered the message "Mom didn't make it."Paul's mom was killed instantly in that car wreck, and his two younger brothers were comatose. Paul's 18 year old brother Joe never came out of his and passed away three months later. Paul's youngest adopted brother, Isaiah, survived the accident and continues to bring his zest for life into the lives of Paul's entire family.A week before that car accident, Paul's mom told him that she had been listening to a book author talking on the radio about his life. How he had been the nerd in school and wasn't athletic, but went on to become an acclaimed writer. "I think you're like that Paul," she said "Don't try to be what other people want you to be, be who you are, and who God made you to be. Pursue your dreams."With those words in mind, Paul continues to pursue his goals in acting and the arts.
