After studying 1964-1967 at Odense Teater and graduating, Ole Ernst shortly after was hired there as an actor. He debuted on the theater-stage playing Chino in "Westside Story" in 1965. In 1969 he jumped from Odense Teater to Det Kongelige Teater where he did a lot of stage-acting until 1976, and in 1994 was hired again. Early on in Ole Ernst's career he did a lot of classic theater-work ("Jeppe på bjerget", "Erasmus Montanus", "Hamlet", "Amadeus" etc. until he in 1973 played the leading role in Hans Kristensen's classic movie "Flugten". The film was followed by two sequels: "Per" (1975) and "Blind Makker (1976). This launched his career as one of Denmark's finest actors of his generation. A short list of his best work: "Flugten" (1973), "Per" (1975), "Blind Makker" (1976), "Hærværk" (1977), "Terror" (1977), "Mord I Mørket" (1986), "Epidemic" (1987), "Peter von Scholten" (1987), "Sort Høst" (1993) and "Okay" (2002).In 2004 he was in "Rembrandt": a Danish pendant to US film "The Score" featuring actors from our current movie-actor generations: "grandfather" Marlon Brando (did his best acting in the 50s-70s), "father" Robert DeNiro (did his best acting in the 70s-90s) and "son" Edward Norton (currently doing his best acting since the 90s). In the danish movie "Rembrandt" Ole Ernst plays the grandfather Frank, Lars Brygmann plays the father Mick and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau plays the son Kenneth. Both films take place in criminal milieus and both films offer three generations of the best actors of film history collaborating.
