Mala Ghedia was born in Leeton, New South Wales, Australia. Her father was a doctor and her mother worked as his receptionist and later as a child-carer. She attended an open-audition with over 2000 hopefuls at a shopping mall for popular Australian soap series "Home and Away" and won the role of new love interest, Monique. She studied at university in Sydney and earned a BA in Communications. Later, she travelled to London where she trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts. She worked extensively within the UK theatre scene including work with the Royal Shakespeare Company on Salman Rushdie's "Midnight's Children". She is currently based in Sydney, Australia.
